Our pouf is a design piece characterised by a unique tactile experience.
The fabric we have carefully sourced and selected for the upholstery is rich and sophisticated. At Rotagiorgino, we think that the pouf is not only a beautiful piece of furniture but also an item the owner can interact with, stimulating the senses.
In order to enhance this experience, we have exploited the characteristic of the fabric, creating a detail that gives the user two conflicting experiences: the softness and silky touch of the texture, and the hard but satisfying feeling of the fabric covered in liquid metal.
The two finishes are visually tied together by the same pattern, making it cohesive to the eye. The feeling of cohesion disappears to the touch, leaving space to a contrasting experience.
The result is also reached by decomposing the fabric, showing its real core, creating a contrasting detail that brings together the two finishes.
The fabric is produced by Toyine Sellers using traditional mechanical looms. They are not only a studio producing beautiful works, but also a centre for preserving European weaving know-how, proudly supporting local manufacturing.
The pouf is then put together by five different artisans.
The first step includes the trimming of the fringe detail by decomposing the fabric on one edge. The fabric is then bonded on the partially recycled wooden carcass.
This is then covered completely by liquid metal, which is then carefully polished until the desired finish is achieved whilst the pouf seats is being produced, covered by the rich fabric.
Completely handmade, the result is a unique piece which is a testament to both craftsmanship and contemporary design.
